We sadly announce that UK Cypriot Aphrodite Hadjou has passed away

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing away of our beloved mother aged 91, Aphrodite Hadjou on the 1st of January 2022. She is survived by her children Maria, George, Michael, Stellios and John Hadjou. Her sister Lucy Alexandrou, and also all of her grandchildren which were her pride and joy. Aphrodite was known for her very strong character,
and for her compassion for those who needed help. Aged 22 she left for London for a better life and as many Cypriots, worked as a seamstress. She passed away peacefully and quietly surrounded
by all her children. She will be missed dearly by all of us. The funeral will be held at the Greek Orthodox church of Ayios Nectarios in Battersea on the 2nd of February, at 11:00, and the burial will be held at Putney Vale Cemetery (SW15 3DZ). The wake will be held at Dimson Lodge (SW11 3NQ). There will be a donation box where all funds will be shared between the Church of Ayios Nectarios and the Hospice.

Με μεγάλη μας θλίψη ανακοινώνουμε τον θάνατο της αγαπημένης μας μητέρας σε ηλικία 91 ετών, Αφροδίτης Χάτζου την 1η Ιανουαρίου 2022. Αφήνει πίσω τα παιδιά της Μαρία, Γιώργος, Μιχαήλ, Στέλιο και Γιάννη Χάτζου. Επίσης, την αδερφή της Λούσυ Αλεξάνδρου, αλλά και όλα τα εγγόνια της που ήταν το καμάρι και η χαρά της. Η Αφροδίτη ήταν γνωστή για τον πολύ ισχυρό χαρακτήρα της και για τη συμπόνια της για όσους χρειάζονταν βοήθεια. Σε ηλικία 22 ετών έφυγε για το Λονδίνο για μια καλύτερη ζωή και όπως πολλές Κύπριες, δούλεψε ως μοδίστρα. Έφυγε από τη ζωή ειρηνικά και ήσυχα περικυκλωμένη από όλα της τα παιδιά. Θα λείψει πολύ σε όλους μας. Η κηδεία θα τελεστεί στην ελληνορθόδοξη εκκλησία του Αγίου Νεκταρίου στο Battersea στις 2 Φεβρουαρίου, 11:00 και η ταφή θα γίνει στο κοιμητήριο Putney Vale (SW15 3DZ). Η παρηγοριά θα πραγματοποιηθεί στο Dimson Lodge (SW11 3NQ). Θα υπάρχει ένα κουτί δωρεών όπου όλα τα χρήματα θα δοθούν στην Εκκλησία του Αγίου Νεκταρίου και τον ξενώνα.
