It is with great sadness that we wish to announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother Christina Photiou, wife of the late Iacovos Photiou (from Ardana) and mother to Elizabeth Photiou and the late Andrew Photiou.

After a long-lived life at age 94, Christina passed away peacefully on Friday 11th June 2021, with her beloved daughter, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren by her side. Christina was born in Patriki, the daughter of Angela and Michael Michael. Being the eldest daughter of 6, she helped to raise her siblings and worked hard at home, in the village bakery and on the family land to support her family. In 1954, Christina came to London where she worked as a seamstress. She settled in Camden where she met and married her dearest husband Iacovos. Christina was a very devoted and caring person and leaves behind a large, loving family including her daughter Elizabeth, daughter-in-law Dasoulla, her grandchildren Anthony, Christopher, Joanna, Nicola, and Christina, Kyriaki, Alexandra, and Sophia, her four great grandchildren and siblings Andreas, Yianoulla and Maria. We will miss her dearly, may she rest in eternal peace.

A funeral service to remember Christina will take place on Wednesday 30th June 2021, at 1:00pm at St. Andrew’s Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 124 Kentish Town Road, London NW1 9QB. Unfortunately, due to the current COVID restrictions the church service will be limited to 80 people. Following the church service there will be a burial at New Southgate Cemetery, Brunswick Park Road, New Southgate, London N11 1JJ from approximately 2.30pm. For those who wish to attend and pay their respects, you will be warmly welcomed at the cemetery where there will be no restrictions on the number of people. Floral tributes will be welcomed and can be sent to Leverton & Sons Ltd, 149 Kentish Town Road, London, NW1 8PD by 10.30am on the 30th of June.

Με μεγάλη θλίψη ανακοινώνουμε τον θάνατο της αγαπημένης μας μητέρας και γιαγιάς Χριστίνας Φωτίου, συζύγου του αείμνηστου Ιακώβου Φωτίου (από Άρδανα) και μητέρα της Ελισάβετ Φωτίου και του Ανδρέα Φωτίου.

Η Χριστίνα απεβίωσε την Παρασκευή 11 Ιουνίου 2021, σε ηλικία 94 ετών, μαζί με την αγαπημένη της κόρη, την νύφη της και τα εγγόνια της. Η Χριστίνα γεννήθηκε στο Πατρίκι, κόρη της Άντζελα και του Μιχαήλ Μιχαήλ. Ως η μεγαλύτερη από τα 6 παιδιά, βοήθησε να μεγαλώσει τα αδέλφια της και εργάστηκε σκληρά στο σπίτι, στο αρτοποιείο του χωριού και στην οικογενειακή γη για να στηρίξει την οικογένεια της. Το 1954, η Χριστίνα μετακόμισε στο Λονδίνο, όπου εργάστηκε ως μοδίστρα. Εγκαταστάθηκε στο Camden, όπου συνάντησε και παντρεύτηκε τον αγαπημένο της σύζυγο Ιάκωβο. Η Χριστίνα αφήνει πίσω της μια μεγάλη και στοργική οικογένεια, συμπεριλαμβανομένης της κόρης της Ελισάβετ, της νύφης της Δασούλλας, των εγγονών της Αντώνη, Κρίστοφερ, Ιωάννα, Νικολά και Χριστίνα, Κυριακή, Αλεξάνδρα και Σοφία, 4 εγγόνια και αδέλφια Ανδρέα, Γιάνουλα και Μαρία.
Θα μας λείψει πολύ. Αιωνία της η μνήμη

Η κηδεία θα τελεσθεί την Τετάρτη 30 Ιουνίου 2021, στη 1:00 μ.μ. στον ελληνικό ορθόδοξο καθεδρικό Ναό του Αγίου Ανδρέα, 124 Kentish Town Road, London NW1 9QB.
Δυστυχώς, λόγω των τρεχόντων περιορισμών COVID, η τελετή θα περιορίζεται σε 80 άτομα. Η ταφή θα γίνει στο κοιμητήριο του New Southgate, Brunswick Park Road, N11 1JJ, στις 2.30 μ.μ.
Για όσους επιθυμούν να παρευρεθούν, θα σας καλωσορίσουμε θερμά στο κοιμητήριο όπου δεν θα υπάρχουν περιορισμοί στον αριθμό των ατόμων. Αφιερώματα και λουλούδια είναι ευπρόσδεκτα και μπορούν να σταλούν στο γραφείο κηδειών Leverton & Sons Ltd, 149 Kentish Town Road, London, NW1 8PD έως τις 10.30 π.μ. στις 30 Ιουνίου.
