The Republic of Cyprus handed over on Friday to the Turkish Cypriot side 21,000 Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 single-dose vaccines, via the bicommunal Technical Committee on Health, its Greek Cypriot co-chair Leonidas Phylactou told CNA.

The vaccines were given to the Turkish Cypriot side at Agios Dometios crossing point, in Nicosia, Phylactou said, adding that this is the biggest number of vaccines handed out to Turkish Cypriots since the beginning of the pandemic, via the Technical Committee.

Turkish Cypriot co-chair of the Committee, Cenk Soydan, said that this is the highest number of vaccines they have received by the EU, noting that they have already received 24,700 AstraZeneca and 10,350 Pfizer/BioNTech doses. Therefore the total number of doses they have received until now is 56,050.

Moreover he said that they received 190,000 Sinovac doses from Turkey.
