The President of the Republic of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades congratulated Antonio Guterres on his re-election as Secretary General of the United Nations.
 
“Congratulations to Antonio Guterres on his re-election as UN Secretary General. The Republic of Cyprus is of the strong view that the UN can play a vital role in addressing global and regional challenges”, the President says in a post on twitter.
 
“I look forward to continue working closely with His Excellency, Mr.  Antonio Guterres, including in his efforts for a viable and functional settlement of the Cyprus issue, in accordance with UNSC resolutions”, he also notes.
