Police presence will be heavy on the road network on Monday as holidaymakers are returning home after the three-day respite due to the Pentecost holiday.

Increased traffic is expected in the afternoon at the main junctions of the island’s road network.

In a press release, Police said its force will be out on the roads to ensure the safe and hassle free return of everyone to their homes with increased staff on the main roads from coastal to mountain areas.

It will pay special attention to traffic violations that cause fatal accidents such as excessive speed, dangerous overtaking, driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol and not wearing seatbelts or helmets.

The Police appealed to all drivers to use caution, observe traffic signs and instructions by Police on the roads.
