Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a fire at some sheds and outbuildings situated on allotments at the rear of Byron Terrace in Edmonton.

The sheds and outbuildings were completely destroyed by the blaze. There are no reported injuries.

Fire investigators say the cause is undetermined but are reminding people to dispose of smoking materials safely, to never leave barbecues or braziers (containers used to burn garden waste) unattended and extinguish them properly after you have finished using them to avoid them smouldering and bursting into flames.

Station Officer Terry Jayes was at the scene he said: “This is a timely reminder to remind all gardeners to never leaving your bonfire unattended. If it has to be left, damp it down with plenty of water first.”
