Two Cypriot Judokas are placed in the top ten of the world ranking of the International Judo Federation (IJF).

A press release sent to the media on Friday says that according to an updated version of the ranking in May 2021, Petros Christodoulides is number 3 in -50 kg category and Yiannis Antoniou is number 8 in +90 category.

Christodoulides who received an award recently by ΕΑΚ, the Cyprus sports writers association, moved 5 places and is now behind Ali Sanjar of Kazakhstan and Pietro Andreini of Italy. Petros is the son of Christos Christodoulides, a 2004 Olympian and currently a coach.

Yiannis Antoniou moved 8 places and is now in 8th place.

Head of Cyprus Judo Federation Sotos Trikomitis expressed his pride and said that all athletes of the federation try their best and their efforts have paid off.
