A total of 157 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed out of 83,338  PCR and antigen rapid tests, Cyprus’ Ministry of Health announced on Saturday with the positivity rate standing at 0.19%.

No deaths were reported therefore the total number of deaths due to COVID-19 remains at 346.

Meanwhile, 156 people are receiving treatment in hospitals, 58 of whom are in a serious condition.

A total of 83.338 tests were carried out in the last 24 hours and 157 new coronavirus cases were detected. The positivity rate stands at  0.19%.

Since the outbreak of the pandemic 70.899 people have been infected with the virus.

Out of the 58 patients who are in a critical condition, 28 are intubated.

In the Famagusta General Hospital there are 30 patients, 54 in the Nicosia General Hospital, 43 in the Limassol General Hospital, 16 are receiving treatment in the Larnaka General Hospital, 11 are in the Pafos General Hospital and 2 in the Makario Hospital in Nicosia.

The 83.338 tests were carried out with the PCR method (4.966 ) and the antigen rapid test method (78.372). 

The 157 new cases were found as follows: , 3 cases detected at passengers checks at Larnaca and Paphos airport, 45 from private initiative, 6 from samples taken at the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals, 1 from GP referrals, 7 from antigen rapid tests done in private laboratories and pharmacies and 95 from antigen rapid tests.
