Cyprus reported on Friday 273 new coronavirus cases, after 57,926 tests which is the highest daily number of tests ever conducted in Cyprus. Positivity rate stands at 0,47%.
The total number of cases since the outbreak of the pandemic in Cyprus is now 36,277.
The Ministry of Health announced that 111 patients are receiving treatment in state hospitals, 27 of whom in serious condition.
No new deaths were recorded, thus their number remains at 232, 155 men (67%), and 77 women (33%) with their median age being 79.
Twelve patients out of the 27 who are in a serious condition are intubated. In the Famagusta General Hospital there are 47 patients, in the Nicosia General Hospital 24, while 39 people are receiving treatment in the Limassol General Hospital and one in the Makario Hospital in Nicosia.
Out of the 57,926 laboratory tests done in the last 24 hours, 2,326 were carried out with the PCR method and 55,600 with the antigen rapid test method. The 273 new cases were diagnosed as follows: 58 cases were found after contact tracing of primary contacts, 1 after samples taken at airports, 21 after testing upon private initiative, 4 from samples taken at the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals, 5 from antigen rapid tests done in private laboratories and 184 were detected with the antigen rapid test method through the Ministry of Health`s programme. No cases were found among 34 samples taken after GP referrals.
