The vaccination portal in Cyprus will open on Wednesday at 0900 local time for appointments for citizens 74 year old and over, the Health Ministry announced on Tuesday. According to the Ministry, a total of 9,096 appointments will made available for the public.

The Ministry says that according to the vaccination strategy, priority is given to citizens who are most likely to become seriously ill and might need to be admitted to the hospital and thus the elderly will get the jab first.

The citizens are advised to turn up at the inoculation centres at the time of their appointments and not earlier in order to avoid mass gatherings and inconvenience.

The Ministry will announce the next available appointments for other age groups in due time.
