According to reports in the international as well as Cypriot press, Israel’s Mediterranean beaches have been closed down due to an oil spill of unknown origin. It appears we are talking about a serious environmental disaster, as the Israeli authorities are calling it the worst ecological disaster in decades.
Furthermore, according to press reports, the offshore oil spill is moving towards the coasts of Cyprus. We want to ask the competent Minister whether there is a similar threat to our coasts and if so, what measures is the government taking to prevent an environmental disaster on our country’s coastline.
