Georgia Stavrou recently stepped down as NEPOMAK’s General Secretary to hand over to someone new. She has been involved with NEPOMAK since 2009 and has been an integral part of the organisation for the past 12 years. Georgia made a huge contribution to the organisation across a variety of roles, including as President of NEPOMAK’s USA branch. We’d like to say a massive thank you to Georgia for her service over the years.
NEPOMAK’s Executive Committee has elected Yannis Christodoulides as our new General Secretary and we’re incredibly excited to have him on board in this role.
In reflection of her time in NEPOMAK, Georgia said that “seeing the impact we make as an organisation really is immeasurable – both for Cyprus and its diaspora.” She added, “my personal highlight has been the life-long friendships that I’ve made with fellow Cypriots around the world.” She also said that she’d really enjoyed the opportunity to make a real different to the Cypriot diaspora and would urge other diaspora Cypriots to get involved in the organised community.
Commenting on the change, NEPOMAK President, Christos Tuton said, “I’d like to thank Georgia for her incredible service over the last 12 years. She has played a vital part in building NEPOMAK into the organisation that it is today, and it has been a true pleasure working closely with her.” He added, “As with all youth organisations, there comes a time when the reins have to be handed over and I know that Yanni will seize this opportunity and make his own mark on the Cypriot diaspora as our General Secretary.”
