France`s Ambassador in Nicosia Salina Grenet – Catalano had a meeting with Greek Cypriot negotiator Andreas Mavroyiannis on Tuesday during which they “shared views on the importance of UN parameters and the federal model.”

“I had an in depth discussion this morning with @AMavroyiannis, greek Cypriot negotiator,” Grenet – Catalano wrote on Twitter.

“Shared views on the importance of UN parameters and the federal model,” she added.

She also expressed the hope “the upcoming 5+1 meeting will lead to a result oriented process toward reunification. #cyprus #cyprob.”

Cyprus has been divided since the 1974 Turkish invasion. The latest UN-backed efforts to reunited the island took place in the summer of 2017 but failed to yield any results.
