A 75 year old woman with underlying conditions died of COVID19 on Friday, brining the total number of deaths to 229, (153 men (67%), and 76 women (33%) with their median age being 79 years.
The Ministry of Health announced that 76 patients are being treated in state hospitals, 22 of whom in a critical condition.
In addition, 37,325 laboratory tests were carried out and 111 new cases were diagnosed (positivity rate 0.30%).
Since the outbreak of the pandemic 33,046 people tested positive in Cyprus.
In the Famagusta General Hospital there are 22 patients receiving treatment, 25 are in the Nicosia General Hospital, 28 in the Limassol General Hospital and one in the Makario Hospital in Nicosia.
Out of the 37,325 laboratory tests, 1,917 were carried out with the PCR method, and 35,408 with the PCR antigen rapid method. The 111 new cases were found as follows: 48 from contact tracing, 18 from tests done after private initiative, 1 from samples taken at the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals, 2 from antigen rapid tests done in private laboratories, and 42
from the antigen rapid tests done by the Ministry of Health.
No cases were found after 299 samples taken at airports, 5 samples taken on the 7th day of self isolation in the Republic`s hotels of passengers arriving from the UK, 35 samples taken after contact tracing of secondary contacts of confirmed cases, 29 after GP referrals, and 11 tests done among members of the Cyprus Basketball and Volleyball federations.
