The Ministry of Health announced on Friday that 272 new coronavirus cases were detected out of 43,958 tests carried out both with the PRC and the antigen rapid methods. The positivity rate stands at 0,62%.

Meanwhile, 80 patients are receiving treatment, 17 of whom in a serious condition. No deaths were recorded on Friday.

Since the outbreak of the pandemic 231 people died of COVID19, 154 men (67%) and 77 women (33%) with 79 being their median age. The number of recorded cases reaches 34,181.
 
Out of the 17 patients who are in a critical condition, 11 are intubated. In the Famagusta General Hospital there are 21 patients receiving treatment, 23 are in the Nicosia General Hospital and 36 in the Limassol General Hospital.
 
From the  43,958 laboratory tests carried out in the last 24 hours, 2,350 were done with the PCR method and 41,608 with the antigen rapid test method and 272 new coronavirus cases were diagnosed as followed : 79 out of 394 samples taken from contact tracing (primary contacts), 33 out of 1,318 samples taken on a private initiative, 11 out of 344 tests done in the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals, 6 out of 285 tests done with the antigen rapid test method in private laboratories and 143 out of 41,323 samples taken with the antigen rapid test method through the Ministry’s of Health program.

 Finally, no cases were found after 269 samples taken at airports and 25 tests done on GPs referrals.
