Cyprus Police reported 99 individuals and 3 shop owners for violating protective measures in place to contain the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.
A police spokesperson told CNA that in the last 24 hours ending at 06:00 local time, the Police carried out a total of 8,563 checks throughout the island.
In Nicosia the Police conducted 903 checks reporting 5 individuals, in Limassol 40 individuals were reported following 2,795 checks, in Larnaca 1,066 checks were carried out with 25 individuals and one shop owner reported, in Pafos 1,155 were carried out with 14 individuals and 2 shop owners reported, in Famagusta 777 checks were carried out and 6 citizens were fined, while in Morphou the Police carried out 1,098 checks reporting 4 individuals.
The Spokesperson added the Traffic Department carried out 721 checks reporting 5 individuals, while the Police Rapid Response Unit and the Marine and Port Police carried out 5 and 53 checks respectively with no reports issued.
