Three COVID-19 patients have died and 120 new coronavirus cases have been traced, Cyprus Health Ministry announced on Monday.

The total number of patients who have died is now 202 (136 men and 66 women), while the total number of confirmed cases is 30,996. The median age of those who have passed away due to COVID-19 is 79 years old.

The three persons who have died, with COVID-19 being the final cause of their death, are a 70-year-old man, a 62-year-old woman and an 80-year-old man. All of them had underlying health problems, and  passed away at Nicosia General Hospital Intensive Treatment Unit.
 
According to the press release issued by the Health Ministry, 27,248 PCR and rapid tests were carried out and the positivity rate was 0,44%.
 

A total of 129 patients are being treated in hospital. The situation of 43 of them is critical. Twenty-three of them are incubated, seven are being treated at an Intensive Treatment Unit but are not incubated, and 13 are being treated at an Increased Care Unit.

Out of the 27,248 tests carried out on Monday 1,854 were conducted using the PCR method and 25,394 using rapid tests. 
 
   
The 120 COVID-19 cases were traced as follows: 31 from 238 samples taken in the framework of tracing the contacts of already confirmed cases, three from 795 samples taken by passengers at Larnaca and Paphos airports, four from 362 samples taken at the private initiative, six from 240 samples taken by General Hospitals Microbiology Labs, one from 219 samples taken after referrals by Personal Doctors and by special groups through public health centres, and 75 out of the 25,394 samples tested using antigen rapid tests.
