Cyprus Health Ministry on Sunday announced the death of a patient from COVID and 115 new cases. Moreover it announced that 109 patients are getting treatment in hospitals island wide and 33  are in serious condition.

The new cases were detected from a total of 40,974 tests (rapid and PCR) and the positivity rate is 0,28%.

The total number of cases on the island since the pandemic broke out is 31,759 and the total deaths 212 , 143 are male  (67%) and 69 female (33%) and the median age is 79 years.

The deceased is a 94 year old man with underlying conditions who was at the Famagusta Reference Hospital.

 From the 33 patients in serious condition, the 21 are intubated , 3 are in the ICU and 9 in the ACU.

Today`s cases were detected as follows:

27 cases from 206 samples in the contact tracing process, 6 from 268 tests done on private initiative, 5 from 157 tests done at the Microbiological Labs of General Hospitals, 1 from 221 samples from GP referrals or testing at public clinics, 76 from 40,092 antigen rapid tests in the framework of population testing.

No case was detected from a total of 30 samples of rapid tests done at private labs.
