The Ministry of Health announced on Saturday that a 63 year old man, with underlying conditions, lost his life to COVID19, bringing the number of deaths to 211, 142 men (67%) and 69 women (33%). Their median age is 79.
A press release by the Ministry says that 112 patients are being treated in state hospitals, 33 of whom in a serious conditon.
In addition, 132 new cases of coronavirus have been detected out of 36,863 tests.(positivity rate 0,36%). The number of cases since the outbreak of the pandemic rises to 31,644.
In the Famagusta General Hospital 29 patients are receiving treatment, in the Nicosia General Hospital there are 40 patients, 41 are being treated in the Limassol General Hospital and 2 in the Makario Hospital in Nicosia.
Out of the 36,863 laboratory tests done today, 2,090 were carried out with the PCR method, and the remaining with the antigen rapid test method and 132 new infections were detected as follows: 37 after contact tracing, 1 case was found from samples taken at the airports, 10 were found after testing upon private initiative, 7 from samples taken at the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals, 1 from GP referrals, 8 after tests done with the antigen rapid method in private laboratories and 68 after antigen rapid testing in the framework of the Ministry of Health`s program.
Meanwhile, no cases were found out of 76 samples taken on the 7th day of the mandatory isolation in state`s hotels of passengers arriving from the UK.
