A man has been charged with impersonating a police officer in Newham.

Martin McCarthy, 29 (31.03.91), of Fairfoot Road, E3 was charged with blackmail and impersonating a police officer on Saturday, 30 January.

The charges relate to an incident which occurred at approximately 12:00hrs on Friday, 29 January, where a member of the public reported a man behaving suspiciously at Stratford Centre, E15.

McCarthy is due to appear at Thames Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 1 February.
