STATEN ISLAND, NY – Michael Tannousis (R-East Shore/South Brooklyn) was sworn in as a New York State Assembly Member on January 4 in a small ceremony on Staten Island, SILive reported.

Tannousis’ wife, Anna, and his parents, Kate and Tony also attended the ceremony at the office of Richmond County Clerk Stephen Fiala.

“I was honored to be sworn in as a Member of the Assembly yesterday alongside my wife and family,” Tannousis said, SI Live Reported, “I look forward to getting to work and fighting for the safety, prosperity, and improving the quality of life for the residents of the 64th Assembly District.”

Tannousis also posted on Twitter, “Today, I was proud to be sworn in as Assemblyman by County Clerk Steve Fiala, surrounded by my family,” along with photos from the ceremony.

The former prosecutor in the Bronx and on Staten Island won the election in November against Democrat Brandon Patterson.

Tannousis replaced Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (R-Staten Island/South Brooklyn), who left her Assembly seat due to her successful run for Congress, SI Live reported.
