Cyprus: Two more deaths and 627 new coronavirus cases reported on Saturday
Two people lost their lives on Saturday due to COVID19, bringing the total number of deaths to 129, 86 men (67%), and
43 women (33%) with their median age being 80 years.
According to a press release by the Ministry of Health, in state hospitals there are 180 patients receiving treatment, 54 of whom in a critical condition.
Moreover, 12,039 tests were carried out to detect the coronavirus with the PCR and the antigen rapid test methods and 627 new cases were found. Since the outbreak of the pandemic, 23,445 people have been infected.
The two patients who died were a man of 82 years and a woman of 91 years, both with underlying conditions.
In the Famagusta General Hospital there are currently 72 COVID19 patients receiving treatment, 59 are treated in the Nicosia General Hospital, 41 in the Limassol General Hospital, and 8 are in the Makario Hospital in Nicosia.
The new cases detected on Saturday include 135 cases found after contact tracing, 2 cases found after samples taken at the airports, 60 after tests done upon private initiative, 16 were cases found after tests done in the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals, 409 were detected with the antigen rapid test method and 5 were found in the framework of tests done on the 7th day of self-isolation of passengers who arrived from the UK and are in hotels paid by the state.
Meanwhile, no cases were found out of 15 samples taken after GP referrals.
