Six people lost their lives on Thursday due to COVID19 bringing the number of deaths to 125, 83 men (67%), and
42 women (37%) with 80 years being their median age. Another 632 new confirmed coronavirus cases were also reported out of a total of 12,643 PCR and antigen rapid tests.
The Ministry of Health announced that 160 patients are being treated in state hospitals, 46 of whom in a critical condition.
In the last 24 hours, 12,643 tests were carried out with the PCR method and the antigen rapid test method and
632 new cases were detected. Since the outbreak of the pandemic, the total number of cases in Cyprus rises to 22,651.
Five of the dead are men, 91, 80, 84, 90 and 79 years old all with underlying conditions and one 90 year old woman also with underlying conditions.
In the Famagusta General Hospital there are currently 68 people receiving treatment, 53 in the Nicosia General Hospital, 34 in the Limassol General Hospital and 5 in the Makario Hospital in Nicosia.
Out of the 632 new cases, 152 were found after contact tracing, 2 from samples taken at airports, 111 were found after tests carried out upon private initiative, 41 after tests taken at the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals and 326 were found from antigen rapid tests.
No cases were recorded from 32 samples taken after GP referrals and 48 tests done among residents of Kato Pyrgos Tillirias.
