After Apoel’s dismay in dropping to fourth from bottom making an exciting relegation battle at the other end the championship battle is going full swing with four teams going full speed for the Championship with the top four spots held by AEL, Apollon, Omonia and Anorthosis.
This weekend sees AEL play Omonia, Ethnikos Achna v Apollon, Olympiakos v Anorthosis, Apoel v Ermis Aradippou, AEK v Paralimni, so its going to be interesting.
This week its been interesting with Apoel firing their manager Former Republic of Ireland manager Mick McCarthy after two months and only winning three out of nine games.
At the top end Omonia now in third place beat Apollon who were at the top before the match 2-1, Apoel led from the third minute with a Diguiny goal inspiring Omonia to a great come back equalising in the 25th minute with Thiago and an own goal in the 65th minute.Omonia have now had six wins on the trot under their manager former Manchester United player Henning Berg.
AEL leaped over their Limassol rivals Apollon to the top spot with a 3-1 win over AEK Larnaca. AEK led 1-0 through Acorn in the 16th minute but AEL fought back through goals from two goals from Babic and one from Danilo.
