Cyprus Health Ministry on Monday announced 2 deaths from COVID-19 and 665 new cases. Moreover, it announced that 180 patients are being treatment in hospitals and 51 of them are in serious condition. The total deaths from the virus are 133 and the total cases reach 24,639.The 665 new cases were detected from a total of 13,495 PCR and rapid tests.
The deceased are males, 88 and 73 years of age with underlying conditions and they were hospitalized at the Limassol General Hospital and the Famagusta Reference Hospital. From the 133 people who lost their lives to the disease, 89 (67%) are males and 44 (33%) females and the median age is 80 years.
From the 51 patients in serious condition, the 22 are intubated, 8 are in an ICU and 21 in an ACU (Advanced Care Unit).
Today’s positive cases were detected as follows:
204 from 907 samples of contacts of confirmed cases, 4 from 737 tests done at airports, 2 from 186 samples from people on the 7th day of quarantine (arrivals from UK), 46 from 509 tests done on private initiative, 45 from 283 tests at the Microbiological Labs of General Hospitals island-wide, and 364 from 10,853 rapid tests.
No cases were detected from 20 tests done on GP referrals and by public clinics.
