Omonia were unstoppable versus their Nicosia rivals Apoel on Monday beating them 3-0 giving the new manager of Apoel Mick McCarthy more heartbreak and he must now be thinking it’s a bigger job than he thought.

Henning Berg the former Manchester United player and manager of Omonia needed this win to boost the confidence of his team and give them a big boost. Omonia had not beaten Apoel since 2013 and seven years is a long time.

Omonia led from the 38th minute with a Luftner close range shot and went into the half time break 1-0 up and in a five minute spell in the last ten minutes Omonia scored twice in the 80th minute through Kousoulou and in the 85th minute through Duris to give Omonia  a comfortable 3-0 win.
