European Parliament (EP) President David Sassoli called upon the 27 EU leaders, meeting on Thursday in Brussels, to “give serious thought to using all the tools at our disposal, including economic sanctions”, concerning Turkey and the relevant Summit conclusions, to be discussed during the leaders` dinner.

Μore specifically, during his intervention at the European Council Summit, President Sassoli stated that “we must give serious thought to using all the tools at our disposal, including economic sanctions, in order to send a credible signal that we stand by the territorial integrity of Cyprus. Turkey must realize that because of its actions the prospects of achieving a positive outcome are diminishing rapidly.”

As per usual, the EP President participates only during an exchange taking palce at the beginning of the Summit.
