Cyprus records one more COVID19 death and 401 new coronavirus cases
One person died on Wednesday due to COVID-19 in Cyprus, bringing the total number of deaths to 85, while 125 patients are receiving treatment, 26 of whom in a critical condition.
A press release issued by the Ministry of Health says that 12,358 tests were carried out, 4,510 PCR tests and 7,848 antigen rapid tests, and 401 new cases were found or verified with the PCR method, including 180 verifications of antigen tests done in previous days.
Since the outbreak of the pandemic 16,190 people tested positive with coronavirus.
In addition, 220 positive results were found after antigen rapid tests carried out on Wednesday, which need further verification with the PCR method.
The Ministry said that a man of 81 years of age with underlying conditions died due to COVID 19. He was being treated in the Famagusta General Hospital. The total number of deaths reaches 85, 55 men (65%), and 30 women (35%) with a median age of 78.
In the state hospitals 125 patients are receiving treatment, 26 of whom in a critical condition. In the Famagusta General Hospital there are 66 patients, (6 in the Increased Care Unit and 60 in the COVID ward), in the Nicosia General Hospital there are 29 patients (14 in the Intensive Care Unit, 9 in the COVID ward and 6 in the Increased Care Unit), in the Limassol General Hospital there are 29 patients in the COVID ward and in the Makario Hospital in Nicosia one person is treated in the COVID ward.
Out of the 4,510 PCR laboratory tests done today there were 401 cases which were detected as follows: 111 cases out of 804 samples taken after contact tracing, 1 case out of 940 samples taken at airports, 89 out of 1,917 tests done after private initiative, 18 out of 244 samples taken at the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals, 1 case out of 278 samples taken after GP referrals, 1 case out of 133 samples taken at the Greek military camp and 180 out of 182 tests done to verify antigen rapid tests done in previous days. No cases were found after 12 tests done at basketball and volleyball teams.
