Cyprus’ Health Ministry announced five more deaths from COVID-19 on Tuesday and 419 new cases, of which 212 are confirmed cases of rapid tests completed in the previous days.
Moreover, it announced that 115 citizens are receiving treatment at hospitals island-wide and 21 are in critical condition. Ten are intubated, 3 are in an ICU and 8 in an Advanced Care Unit.
The total number of deaths in the Republic reached 68 (44 male-65% and 24 female -35%), with median age 77 years. The total number of Covid-19 cases since the beginning of the pandemic in Cyprus is 13,286. Three of the deceased are males, aged 76, 84 and 63, with the first two having underlying conditions. The other two deceased are women aged 92 and 91 with underlying conditions.
Τhe total number of tests on Tuesday were 10,910, of which 4,208 were PCR tests and 6,702 rapid tests. In total 218 rapid test came back positive, but need to be confirmed by PCR.
The 419 PCR confirmed cases were detected as follows:
60 from 663 tests on the framework of contact tracing
4 from 915 tests at airports
121 from 1,630 tests on private initiative
19 from 361 tests carried out at the Microbiological Labs of General Hospitals
2 from 251 samples from GP referrals and from checks at public clinics
1 from 98 tests done for Kato Pyrgos community
212 from 210 rapid tests which were confirmed via PCR
No case was detected in 50 tests carried out at schools and 22 tests in migrant and refugee reception and detention centres.
