Presidential Commissioner Photis Photiou has sent a message to Cyprus and Greek diaspora for Christmas and New Year pointing out that the struggle for a better future is a common struggle and expressing hope that all difficulties we are faced with because of the pandemic, will soon be overcome.

The Commissioner also sent a message of solidarity and unity in order to face the Turkish provocations in our region , pointing out that our positions are based on international law, which is blatantly violated by Turkey.

He also said that we carry on the struggle to reunite our island, saying that Cyprus deserves a better future, with no foreign troops and guarantors.

Cyprus has been divided since the 1974 Turkish invasion. The latest round of UN-backed peace talks ended without results in the summer of 2017 at the Swiss resort of Crans Montana.
