Cyprus’ Ministry of Health announced on Tuesday that five people with COVID-19 died, bringing the number of coronavirus-related deaths to 101. The Ministry also announced that 402 persons have tested positive after a PCR test, with the number of cases so far reaching 18.406.
 
According to a press release, 130 patients are hospitalised, 32 of which in a serious condition.
 
On Tuesday, a total of 12.658 tests were carried out, of which 4.088 were PCR tests and 8.570 rapid tests. The PCR tests confirmed 402 new cases, including 135 verifications of rapid tests from previous days.
 
In 231 cases, the rapid tests showed positive results, which will have to be verified with the PCR method.

Tuesday’s deaths were an 83-year-old man, a 66-year-old woman, an 86-year-old man, a 81-year-old woman and a 101 year old man, all with underlying issues.

Out of the 101 deaths, 65 or 64% are men and 36 or 36% are women. The average age of the deceased is 79.
 
Of the 130 patients hospitalised, 32 are in a serious condition, of which 12 are intubated and 17 are in intensive care.
 
Furthermore, the 402 confirmed cases were found as following: 124 through contact tracing, 111 after tested on private initiative, 26 from testing in hospital laboratories, 3 from passengers testing, three that ere tests on GP’s referral, and 135 from verifications of rapid tests carried out in previous days.
