Cyprus authorities announce the death of a 72 year old male and 182 COVID-19 cases, 79 of confirmed rapid tests on Monday
The Cyprus Health Ministry on Monday announced the death of a 72 year old male and 182 new COVID-19 cases of which the 79 were confirmed cases of rapid tests from the previous days.
A total of 3 rapid tests came back negative.
According to a press release by the Ministry, the 72 year old male had underlying conditions and was getting treatment at the ICU of the Nicosia General Hospital. The final cause of death is COVID-19. The total deaths in Cyprus since the pandemic are 49, 33 are male (67%) and 16 female (33%), and the median age are 75 years.
The total tests on Monday were 7,551 and the 2,461 were done with the PCR method from which 354 samples were taken in the framework of the trace contact process and gave 59 positive tests.
Another 404 samples were taken on a private initiative and 14 cases were confirmed, while 368 tests were done at the airports and confirmed 2 cases. Moreover 244 tests were taken at the Microbiological Labs of General Hospitals out of which 16 came back positive. Another 222 tests were conducted on GP referrals and public clinics and 1 case was traced.
In Limassol district 340 tests were done for employees and 2 cases were found while in Nicosia district another 107 tests were conducted with 7 cases. In Paphos district the tests were 134 and 1 came back positive whereas in Larnaka the tests were 127 and 1 came back positive.
No positive cases were found in 52 tests done at schools, in 86 tests at caring homes and other establishments, in 23 tests done in Famagusta district in the framework of the workers’ transits.
Today, 5,090 rapid tests were conducted and gave 125 positive cases which need to be confirmed.
A total of 127 patients are getting treatment at General Hospitals island wide, 69 at the Famagusta Reference Hospital of whom 4 at the Advanced Care Unit, 25 at the Nicosia General Hospital, 14 in the ICU, and the rest in COVID wards.
The total number of cases in the Cyprus republic since the pandemic broke out are 10,565.
