Cyprus authorities announced 15 COVID-19 cases on Wednesday bringing total to 1,195. The number of tests today is 3,132, one of the highest ever conducted since the start of the pandemic.
Seven of the cases are contacts of already confirmed cases, one person had symptoms and was referred to a public clinic by a GP, two are migrants who were going to be admitted at Pournara camp and are now at a rehab center, one is a Cypriot citizen who arrived from Amsterdam and was tested at the airport and the other four are cases detected in tests by private initiative. One person displayed symptoms, the other one was tested by his employers, the third person is a Cypriot citizen who arrived from Greece on July 29 and had symptoms and the fourth was tested privately because of travel plans.
The Health Ministry announced that 186 tests were done in the framework of contact tracing and 7 cases were detected. Moreover 846 samples were taken via passengers`/repatriates` testing and one case was confirmed, 1,081 samples were taken on a private initiative and four cases were reported. In addition, 227 tests were done in the framework of referrals from GPs and one case was confirmed, 52 tests were done to migrants and two cases were confirmed.
No cases were reported out of 99 tests at Microbiological Labs of General Hospitals across the island, 234 tests for employees who went back to work at the second and third phase of the relaxation of measures and 407 tests in the framework of testing of 3,000 citizens.
Four patients are hospitalized in good condition at the Famagusta Reference Hospital.
