Greek model and singer-songwriter Elena Ramona will be competing in Ms Great Britain 2020, having been selected as a finalist. The contest takes place over two days on the 20th and 21st of February in Leicester, and will see her share the stage with 75 other hopefuls from across the UK in a bid to win the prestigious title. Ramona, originally from the Greek Island of Skiathos, now currently based in South London, has an important mission she hopes to use her position as a finalist to share. A mental health activist, the opportunity to spread a positive and inspiring message was the catalyst for her entry into the contest. Having suffered with anxiety, depression and issues with her weight from a young age, Elena hopes to inspire others to follow their dreams and face their fears. She is also passionate about promoting a healthy body image movement: “ I did not have a healthy relationship with myself growing up. In magazines and on tv I would see women representing my generation who I could not relate to, and it made me question my career path. I would love to be a role model and inspiration to anyone in that position now. I want to be the person that I needed when I was a child. To win this competition would be an honour, however to be given the opportunity to get this far and raise awareness for such a current and important cause is a privilege”.

Aside from the contest, Elena Ramona is also an emerging pop artist and songwriter. She has performed at festivals as diverse as “Always The Sun” and “London Pride”, while gaining airplay on radio and TV shows from BBC Introducing to ITV’s This Morning, BBC Iplayer and BBC Scotland as well as attracting praise from the national and international music press. A graduate of the Academy of Contemporary Music (ACM) in Voice Performance, the singer strives to spread empowering and positive messages through an eclectic and expanding catalogue of lovingly crafted songs.
