Home builders specialist Countryside hosted a site tour of Elements, the £310 million regeneration of the former Alma Estate in Ponders End.

The visit showcased the transformation of the post-war Alma Estate, next to Ponders End railway station.

The tour included a preview of the new youth centre, which is currently under construction and a visit to one of the residents who had recently moved into their new apartment, having lived on the Alma Estate for over 30 years.

The tour finished with a meet and greet of a number of residents at the local Oasis Academy Hadley school.

Elements is a striking new development that will deliver 993 new homes, including 200 council rented homes and 199 shared-ownership properties. The scheme is already providing a sustainable and integrated community, which will be served by over 46,000 sq. ft. of new facilities and 21,000 sq. ft. of commercial space.

Following the start of construction in November 2017, 139 homes have now been completed, with the first residents having moved in to their new homes in March 2019. A redesigned Station Square has also been delivered, providing an inviting gateway into Ponders End.

Councillor Gina Needs, Cabinet Member for Social Housing at Enfield Council, commented: “The site visit to Elements was a wonderful example of the positive and much-needed improvements that the scheme is bringing to the area. The development is helping to create much needed affordable housing for local people and create a great space for current and future residents and visitors.”
