Like Tuesday evening the Bees started on the front foot as they looked to take the game to the visitors. Josh Walker almost opened the scoring after five minutes as he wriggled free and saw his shot smartly saved by Craig Ross.

However, set pieces would be the Bees undoing as on 15 minutes Ben Gerring rose highest from a corner to nod the Cards in front. A goal that came against the run of play and seemed to deflate Darren Currie’s side.

The Bees were almost level as Dan Sweeney stretched but saw his header go comfortably wide of the far post in a frustrating opening 45 minutes.

Right at the end of the half, Scott Loach denied the visitors a second goal as he parried away Max Kretzschmar’s effort as the Bees went a solitary goal behind.

Eight minutes after the break the Cards went two ahead as Mark Shelton fired past Loach following good work from Jamar Loza on the Bees left hand side.

The two-goal lead didn’t last long though, as Mauro Vilhete swept home Sweeney’s cross to give Currie’s side hope of a fightback.

Further chances came as substitute Alfie Pavey headed wide from close range following a superb cross from Vilhete on the left hand side.

The introduction of Ephron Mason-Clark in the 61st minute was the catalyst to the Bees revival, as he brought energy and a supreme attacking threat for Currie’s side.

Our number 27 then rattled the post from 20 yards after he skipped past his man to fire at goal. It agonisingly close for the midfielder but his afternoon was far from finished.

In the last minute of six minutes additional time, Mason-Clark stooped to head home from Harry Taylor’s cross to send the Bee Army into sheer delight as he brought his side back on level terms.

The goal rescued a point and on the basis of the excellent second-half showing, the Bees were certainly value for at least a point.

Currie made two changes from the Bromley match as Charlee Adams came into replace Wes Fonguck and Simeon Akinola replaced Alfie Pavey in the starting XI
