Nea Salamina had last years champions Apoel under control but an eight minute lapse late in the game allowed Apoel to score three goals through Merkis in the 66th minute, Matic 70th minute and Vidgul in the 74th minute to lift Apoel into second place two points behind League leaders Anorthosis who beat Doxa 6-0 with their goals coming from Ruben Rayos, Duris 2, Katchareva, Schildenfield and Dauschvili.

AEK, who had seemingly the easiest task, dropped points against against Enosis, as did Omonia and Ethnikos against Olympiakos and Pafos FC. Finally Apollon lost to AEL in the Limassol derby and dropped to ninth place, just three points above the relegation zone.

Anorthosis produced their best display of the season against Doxa and turned what many believed to be a tricky tie into a one-sided affair.

The Famagusta team were in control of the game from the very first whistle but more so after 10 minutes after Ruben Rayos gave them the lead. Michal Duris, scored his first goal of the season before the interval to give his side a well-deserved lead.

In the second half Anorthosis’ pressure was relentless and they scored four more through Katcharava, Schildenfeld, Daushvili and a second by Druris four minutes from the end.

Apollon suffered their fourth defeat of the season, to their local rivals AEL Apollon took the lead in the 37th minute through Carr But AEL came back to win 2-1 through goals from Carlos and Hurada penalty.

AEK were surprisingly held to a 4-4 draw by bottom placed Enosis who led led 3-1 at half time but an hat trick from the  league’s top scorer Ivan Trickovski saved the game for AEK until Enosis equalised in the 73rd minute trough Roushias.

 

Ethnikos Achnas maintained their great start to the season after drawing 1-1 away from home with Pafos FC goals came from Igor Khudobyak and Rasic respectively.

 

On Friday night Omonia drew with Olympiakos 1-1 Omonia scored first through Thiago in the 47th minute and Zachariou equalised for Olympiakos in the 6oth minute.
