On 24 September the Marx Memorial Library’s basement, and parts of the East Wing was flooded due to extremely heavy rain and problems with the flat roof.

The emergency services, our staff, volunteers and Islington Heritage (their staff and volunteers) responded immediately with a salvage operation and thus far there has been no major damage to the collections.

We are currently working on drying effected materials and stabilising conditions in the building.

While this work is going on the Library will be closed to the public. Further announcements will be posted here.

Great to see a close relationship between the newspaper and the library. I hope that the library will be future proofed in these times of uncertain climate
