New Salamis are making good recovery two wins on the trot and beating one of the league favourites very convincingly Winslow United 8-2 and 5th placed and threepoints behinf leagur leader’s St Panteleimon FC.

New Salamis 8 – 2 Winslow United
Well where do we start, from kick off Salamina were rampant. We went into a 1-0 lead after 2 minutes, Andy Anastasiou played a through ball, Charlie Georgiou beat the high line of the Winslow defence and raced the whole half before slotting the ball home passed the Winslow keeper. 1-0.
Winslow unbeaten with a 100% record in the League and had finished 3rd in the previous two seasons came with a high reputation. Salamina have their own reputation and standards and today’s were of the highest. Goal number two came on 12 minutes, Xavier Plowright put in a great cross and the returning Deniz Mehmet was on hand at the far post to score. 2-0.
Winslow then had a chance to score, when the referee harshly adjudged Lee White brilliant tackle to award a penalty. However Bobby Smith made a great save to keep the score at 2-0. Then Deniz Mehmet scored a great goal 33 minutes in the ball was played into Charlie Georgiou’s feet he laid the ball off to Deniz on the left edge of the Winslow area and he delightfully chipped the ball into the far corner, for 3-0 keeper had no chance.
Winslow got a goal back just before half time when the forward intercepted a back header to place the ball passed Bobby in goal 3-1.
Then from nothing Andreas Chambi and the Winslow captain clashed in the Winslow area, and both players were red carded. both teams down to 10 men at half time, and Salamina 3-1 up.
The second half started like the first half, a goal 2 minutes in, John Kyriacou put in a low cross, the Winslow left back stuck out a hand and penalty awarded. As usual Richard Georgiou stepped up and sent the keeper the wrong way for 4-1.
If Deniz Mehmet goal was a contender for goal of the season the goal number 5 from Charlie Georgiou was a contender to. He jinked passed the Winslow Centre back cut inside and unleashed a rocket into the top corner. 5-1.
6-1 followed another penalty and another finish from Richard Georgiou for his second go the game. Then debutant Courtney Austin made it 7-1 out pacing the Winslow defence who had been run ragged all game, and lobbing the keeper. Winslow then got a second from scrappy defending, and Andreas Cumunaj made it 8-2 following good work by Antonio Michael.
Full Time 8-2 a great performance from the boys today, beating a very good Winslow side who we never let breathe.
