Is there an unsung space in Wood Green that you’d like to celebrate, or a specific area you think needs some TLC?

Haringey Council wants to hear your ideas for the area and improvements you’d like to see.

Over the next two years, Haringey will be using special funding from the Mayor of London to deliver a series of projects in the area, and will be using the community’s views to help shape these.

The council has set up an interactive online map where residents can leave their comments. Residents are asked to highlight any places you think are attractive, interesting or special, such as a tree, bench, street, wall, building, park, route or even a particular view. You can also mark places you feel are uninviting or need improvement – this could be a passageway, crossing, or even an entrance that is hard to find. You are also asked for suggestions to make these spots better.

Cllr Charles Adje, Cabinet Member for Strategic Regeneration, said: “It’s really important to us that residents have their say on the areas they live in. Thanks to funding from the Mayor of London, we’ve got a fantastic opportunity here to make improvements in Wood Green. Whether it’s a special place you think needs celebrating, or a spot that could be better, we want residents to get on board.”

The map is open for comments until September 15. Resident feedback will then help to shape plans, which will be put into action next year.

It is all part of Haringey’s Connecting Wood Green scheme, made possible thanks to a £900,000 grant from the Greater London Authority’s Good Growth Fund. Other plans under the scheme include support for social enterprises at the Olympia Trading Estate, the transformation of two empty spaces on the Wood Green Library site into a community engagement hub, and the refurbishment of Penstock Tunnel.
