Enfield students toast GCSE and A-level results

The long wait was finally over with pupils from across Enfield collecting their GCSE and A-level results this month.

Hundreds of pupils nervously opened their results envelopes on 16 and 23 August at secondary schools across the borough.

This year more subjects have been graded using the new numerical system in 20 ‘reformed’ subjects.

Traditional A*-G grades have been scrapped and replaced with a 9-1 system, with 9 the highest grade, as part of a move to ‘toughen up’ GCSEs.

Chace Community School (pictured) pupils were celebrating a bumper year of GCSEs with record results. Thirteen per cent of children gained a 7, 8 or 9 grading in their exams.

Bishops Stopford school also recorded outstanding A-level results with many students excelling in maths and science subjects.

Enfield Council’s Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, Cllr Achilleas Georgiou, said: “Many congratulations to all students who have received their A-level and GCSE results.

“It is a huge achievement and I applaud their efforts and dedication to their subjects. Enfield is proud to have a broad and diverse community of students and I wish them all the best of luck as they progress into careers, training or higher education.”
