Middlesbrough kicked off the weekend with a 1-0 victory at home to West Bromwich Albion in front of the Sky Sports cameras on Friday night. The victory took Tony Pulis’ side top.
They were only top for a short while, though. Leeds United reclaimed their place at the summit with a 3-0 victory at Carrow Road over Norwich City. Mateusz Klich, Ezgjan Alioski and Pablo Hernandez all got themselves on the scoresheet.
Bolton Wanderers remain in third despite suffering their first defeat of the season. Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United visited the Trotters and were also 3-0 away victors.
Blackburn Rovers picked up their third victory of the season thanks to Kasey Palmer’s solitary strike against Brentford, who before today were unbeaten.
Aston Villa drew for the third successive match after Reading netted a last-gasp penalty at Villa Park to make it 1-1.
Andres Weimann scored his fifth goal in five games after just 30 seconds got Bristol City. That goal proved enough for the Robins to earn a 1-0 win against Swansea City.
Frank Lampard’s Derby County moved into the top six with their second win in as many games. Mason Mount and Richard Keogh netted the goals in a 2-0 win over Preston North End.
Stoke City picked up their first win of the season with a 2-0 home victory over Hull City. The day started for the Potters with the unveiling of midfielder Ryan Woods.
Queens Park Rangers and Steve McClaren finally got their first points of the season with a 1-0 triumph over Wigan Athletic. Tomer Hemed netted the crucial goal on his debut.
Ipswich Town remain winless, they travelled to Sheffield Wednesday and were beaten 2-1. Toto Nsiala was the man to net for Paul Hurst’s side, but he was also shown a red card.
In the day’s late kick off, Nottingham Forest battled back from two goals down at home to Birmingham City to earn a point live on Sky Football.
Peterborough United’s lightning start to the 2018/19 Sky Bet League One season continued with a 5-1 win away at Plymouth Argyle. It’s now 15 goals, and five wins from five for Steve Evans’ side.
Portsmouth’s perfect start came to an end after they were held to a goalless draw by Doncaster Rovers at the Keepmoat.
Sunderland moved into second place with their away win at AFC Wimbledon. They had to come from a goal down, and their two goals came from an unlikely source too… Lee Cattermole’s brace was what gave the Blackcats all three points.
Walsall made ti three consecutive victories with a 2-1 triumph away at Rochdale, the Saddlers remain unbeaten and are just two points from the top.
Barnsley are also yet to be defeated. The Tykes had to do it the hard way at Glanford Park too. Scunthorpe led 2-0, but goals from Kieffer Moore and Dimitri Cavare earned them a point.
Luton Town twice came from behind before earning all three points at home to Shrewsbury Town. Goals from Jorge Grant and Jack Stacey pulled them level with the Shrews before Elliot Lee netted the Hatters’ winner.
Oxford United ended a run of four straight defeats and got off the mark for the season with a 3-1 win at the Kassam Stadium over Burton Albion.
Wycombe Wanderers were another side to get their first three points of the season. The maiden win for Gareth Ainsworth’s side came away at Bradford City.
Elsewhere, Charlton Athletic and Fleetwood Town played out a goalless draw, Blackpool and Accrington Stanley, and Gillingham and Coventry City drew 1-1.
At the summit of League Two sit Lincoln City. Danny Cowley’s side claimed their place at the top of the division with a 3-1 win at Sincil Bank over Notts County, who sit winless at the bottom.
Paul Tisdale went up against his former club, Exeter City, at Stadium MK and saw his Milton Keynes Dons side win 1-0. The victory means they remain unbeaten and move a point clear of the Grecians in third.
Carlisle United notched their third consecutive victory with a 1-0 win over Crewe Alexandra at Brunton Park.
Newport County picked up their second win of the week with home victory over Grimsby Town. A first-half strike from Matty Dolan gave the Exiles the win.
At the Colchester Community Stadium, two records came to an end. Colchester United’s unbeaten start to the season was brought to a halt by Northampton Town, who were without a win prior to kick off. Matt Crooks and Billy Waters netted the crucial Cobblers goals in the 2-1 victory.
Tranmere maintained their unbeaten home record with their second victory at Preston Park this season. James Norwood was again the man to fire them to victory, this time with the only goal in a 1-0 win over Port Vale.
Oldham Athletic are one of six teams sitting on eight points. The Latics travelled to Morecambe and were comfortable 2-0 winners.
The game of the day came at the Checkatrade.com Stadium. Harry Kewell’s Crawley Town found themselves 2-1 down against Bury with just 12 minutes to play, but goals from Panutche Camara and Ollie Palmer snatched a 3-2 win for the Reds.
Elsewhere, Yeovil Town were 2-0 winners over Stevenage, while Macclesfield picked up just their second point of the season with a 1-1 draw at home to Mansfield Town.
