Two arrests after 14-year-old stabbed in Islington

Two arrests have been made by detectives from the Central North Command Unit investigating the attempted murder of a 14-year-old boy. 

[A] A 15-year-old boy and [B] a 14-year-old boy were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder at addresses in the north London area this morning, Monday, 2 July and are currently in custody at a north London police station.

The 14-year-old boy [B] from Islington was charged today, Tuesday, 3 July with attempted murder and will appear at court this morning.

A 15 year old boy [A] who was also arrested has been bailed pending further enquires.

Police were called to Fairbridge Road, Islington, N19 at 1850hrs on Sunday, 1 July to reports of an injured male.

Officers and London’s Air Ambulance attended.

At the scene a 14-year-old boy was found suffering from a number of stab wounds.

He was taken by Air Ambulance to an east London hospital. His condition is currently serious but stable.

The boy’s family is aware and with him at the hospital.

An 11-year-old boy initially arrested on suspicion of attempted murder was later de-arrested and released from custody, with no further action being taken.

At this early stage police retain an open mind as to motive. Enquiries are ongoing.
