Larnaca lifeguards rescue six year old boy from near drowning
Larnaca life guards acted quickly to save a six year old boy who nearly drowned at Mackenzie beach in the early afternoon on Tuesday.
According to a Facebook post of the Larnaca Life Guards Association, the child lost consciousness while in the water. He was brought to shore and given emergency first aid. “Thanks to the immediate intervention of the life guards, the six year old boy started breathing again and was taken by ambulance to Larnaca hospital,” the post added.
Because of the critical state of his health, he was later transferred to Makarios Hospital in Nicosia. “According to the doctors the immediate action of the life guards saved the child’s life,” the post concluded.

I dont want to take away the hard work of the lifeguards, but just to clarify. My husband found the boy floating in the sea alone, brought him to shore and between our two families we gave cpr, called for help and comforted the boys hysterical 10 yr old sister and parents . The lifeguards in this case did not respond promptly and the boy would not have survived without our basic cpr knowledge, which we never imagined would have ever needed use. The boy had showed signs of breathing before the lifeguards turned up. The blue faced lifeless limp image of this boy will stay with us forever. Please look after your children in the sea, this child had not been spotted by lifeguards and if my husband had not turned him over in the sea, he would not have made it. Please could you let us know how the boy is doing.
