There was a record of tourist arrivals in Cyprus last November and during the first 11 months of 2017, according to data released today by the Statistical Service of the Republic of Cyprus.
 
On the basis of the results of the Passengers Survey, arrivals of tourists reached 144.676 in November 2017, compared to 124.192 in November 2016, recording an increase of 16.5%.
 
“November 2017 had the highest volume of tourist arrivals ever recorded in Cyprus during the specific month” the announcement says.
 
For the period of January – November 2017 arrivals of tourists totaled 3,553,149 compared to 3,098,604 in the corresponding period of 2016, recording an increase of 14.7% and outnumbering the total arrivals ever recorded in Cyprus during the first eleven months of the year.
 
Tourist arrivals from the United Kingdom increased by 18.4% in November 2017 compared to November 2016 while an increase of 21.4% was recorded for tourists from Russia.
 
Increases were also recorded from other important tourist markets, such as Germany (0.5%) and Israel (27.2%). Contrary to that, a decrease of 6,1% in tourist arrivals from Greece was recorded.
 
The United Kingdom and Russia constitute the main sources of tourism for Cyprus for November 2017, with 35.4% and 14.8% respectively, while arrivals from Greece comprise 9.4%, from Germany 9% and from Israel 6.3% of total arrivals.
 
Moreover, for 68.3% of tourists, the purpose of their trip in November 2017 was holidays, 15.9% came to visit friends and relatives and 15.6% for business. Men comprise 46.8% of tourists and women 53.2%, whilst most of the tourists belonged to the age group of 20-44 years.
