Director General of the Ministry of National Infrastructures, Energy and Water Resources of Israel Shaul Meridor has said that his statements about the exploration of natural gas in the Mediterranean were “misinterpreted.”

The Israeli Embassy in Nicosia re-tweets a message Meridor wrote in his account in which he says “Clarification: my statements about exploration of gas in the Mediterranean were misinterpreted. We view all our partners as important.”

A tweet posted on Thursday in the official account of the Embassy of Israel in Cyprus had also read: “#Israel – #Cyprus – Gas – our position hasn`t changed. No interference in other countries relations. This was clarified with #Cyprus govt.”
