It will soon be possible to tuck into a Big Mac and fries without even leaving the comfort of your home or office.
Following reports last month that the fast-food giant was looking to extend its home delivery service outside its successful trial areas of China, Singapore, South Korea and Cyprus, the burger brand has confirmed it will be treating the UK to the service for the first time this summer.
A McDonald’s spokeswoman said: “It is no secret we have been looking at the potential of delivery in recent months. This service is offered in other markets around the world and its growth within the UK continues to gather pace.
“Listening to our customers, we know that this is a route they would like us to explore, and I can confirm that we are looking to launch a small delivery pilot this summer. Specific locations to be included within this pilot are yet to be decided.”
The announcement comes a week after KFC launched home deliveries across 30 restaurants in Greater London via the Just Eat platform.
McDonald’s home delivery is also expected to launch in the US, Canada, France and Germany.
As for anyone who is worried about the possibility of being served a side of cold chips, the company has made it clear that their new idea really does make sense.
McDonald’s has revealed that its delivery business in China has grown 30 per cent since 2016, and because the majority of customers in its biggest markets live within three miles of a store, delivering food orders while they are still hot is definitely doable.
