Lawyer Maria Economou swapped lawsuits for a tracksuit to complete last month’s London Marathon and raise over £5,000 for charity.

The 33 year old Solicitor, who practices with YVA Solicitors had initially pledged to raise £2,000 for The North London Hospice, but she smashed that target with generous support and a successful #MOVEYOURBODY event. It was an afternoon of Zumba, Bollywood dance and Yoga and added £1365.85 towards her target with over 40 people taking part.

Maria’s challenge was not just the 26.2 mile route and raising the funds, but balancing her busy work schedule with  looking after a toddler in between pounding the pavements to prepare for the demands of one of the world’s biggest marathons. On the day she was cheered on by the crowds that lined the streets of London, and although she picked up a few injuries along the way, the atmosphere spurred her on to the finish:  “I am so proud to have run and raised so much money for such an important charity that helps families at the most difficult  times,” declared Maria, continuing “I am thankful to everyone who donated, supported me  and of course the Sponsors of #MOVEYOURBODY, YVA Solicitors and GFS Solutions.

“Taking part in the London Marathon, running through my own beautiful City was really special. There was a real sense of Community and I feel so honoured by the experience.”

Well done Maria!
