Pavlos Kontides grabbed the gold in the Second World Cup of the year for sailing, which ended on Sunday with the final race in Hyères in France on Sunday.

 

At the end of the race Kontides appeared very happy and relieved, letting out a loud scream as he crossed the finish line. “It was a very interesting clash for the medals. I could have easily have been left out of the medals”, commented Kontides.

 

“I managed to stay focused through this difficult race and maintain a very good speed, ending this particular race in the second place”, commented Kontides talking about the final race in the cup.

 

“This Cup is the Wimbledon of sailing. All participants were top athletes. I am extremely pleased with the gold” said Kontides who has been participating in the particular cup without ever managing to take home a medal in the laser category.

 

The Cypriot champion thanked his girlfriend, his family and all of his friends and supporters who had sent him their positive energy.
