Greek Cypriot George Ioannides who has starred in Mamma Mia! the musical and more recently in the Dubai production of Grease, is joining the cast of Annie which will open at the Piccadilly Theatre in June.
The full cast includes Miranda Hart as Miss Hannigan, Alex Bourne as Daddy Warbucks, Holly Dale Spencer as Grace Farrell, Jonny Fines as Rooster and Djalenga Scott as Lily.
The title role will be shared by three actors, 13 year-old Madeleine Haynes, and 12 year-olds Lola Moxom and Ruby Stokes.
George is part of the ensemble with Keisha Atwell, Sophie Ayers, Bobby Delaney, Nic Gibney, Patrick Harper, Ben Harrold, Megan Louch, Benjamin Mundy, Ben Oliver, Heather Scott-Martin, Anne Smith, Kate Somerset How, Katie Warsop and Russell Wilcox.
Annie is based on the comic strip Little Orphan Annie, and the musical follows Annie during the Great Depression in ‘30s New York as she is forced to live a life of misery in Miss Hannigan’s orphanage. The score includes the songs such as It’s A Hard Knock Life, Tomorrow and Easy Street.
Annie will run at the Piccadilly Theatre from 5 June 2017 to 6 January 2018.
